I don’t understand the need for a built-in scripting engine / GUI - I’d rather use VSCode and see something like this tool as an extension for compiling any powershell/node/Python into a standalone executable. So does endpoint protection for that matter. ![]() When I see that someone has obfuscated their code, I immediately assume bad intentions. Sure, you can use tools to make the IL harder to understand, but once the method used to obfuscate is understood, anyone knowledgeable enough to decompile is probably going to be knowledgeable enough to get the information they want out of, or modify the code. I also understand that people sometimes like to obfuscate their code, either to try to protect their IP or for nefarious reasons.Ĭompiling for the purpose of hiding code is security through obscurity at best. I understand the desire to take a script, or a collection of scripts/modules you already have and turn them into a portable tool that can be used by someone unfamiliar with PowerShell.
